Recently, interviewer Anne Stewart sat down with VisionScape Representative Tiffany Foster to find out why homeowners are so excited about VisionScape.

AS: Hi Tiffany!

TF: Hi Anne! Where would you like to start talking about VisionScape?

AS: Why don’t we start where the homeowners start? At what point in the planning process do people who are redesigning their landscape approach VisionScape?

TF: If they’re lucky, they find us very early in the planning stages of their landscaping project. This is when the customer benefits most because we can help not only in terms of planning and designing but budgeting, as well. We make sure that our clients don't overspend or fail to set aside enough funds to accomplish their landscaping goals.

Unfortunately, we also get homeowners who connect with us only after they’ve run into some pretty major disasters.

AS: Disasters?

TF: Some of our clients come to us after having wasted thousands of dollars on projects that turn out to be impossible to see through to the end. Or if they did know what they were doing, they got tangled up with a contractor who didn’t. Part of what we do here at VisionScape is making sure that this doesn’t happen.

AS: Tell me about some of the common landscape design problems VisionScape helps homeowners to overcome?

TF: Budget is the most common landscape design hurdle for homeowners. That, and finding quality contractors that are reliable and capable of accomplishing the homeowner’s design plans.

A lot of customers have big dreams and small budgets, so a major part of what we do is work every angle to uncover alternatives and solutions that are cost-effective. The client and their Master Designer can choose between elements as well as plan out phases to cut costs and stay within a reasonable budget.

AS: And what about the problems with contractors?

TF: Well, not all contractors are bad. Not by a long shot! VisionScape helps homeowners find quality contractors at the end of their design process to continue to grow our relationship with that customer. We have an extensive network of Preferred Contractors for our clients to choose from. Whichever contractor they choose to bid on their project, we guarantee that they will be in good hands.

AS: And as the time for construction comes around, are VisionScape clients generally satisfied with their completed designs?

TF: Absolutely! No VisionScape design process is complete until our homeowners are jumping for joy.

AS: VisionScape is known for its unique design process. What is the client response to the innovative techniques you guys use?

TF: Our clients love the interactive design process of VisionScape. They work side by side with their Master Designers and find that they come up with ideas they never knew were possible. And the ideas are not the only amazing part of VisionScape. Clients come away completely satisfied thanks to our in-depth revision process.

AS: So homeowners actually work with you on their designs?

TF: That’s the only way landscape design should ever be done. It’s a very creative, collaborative process. Our clients often mention that their biggest problem is trying to choose between all the great concepts that they and their Master Designers come up with. In this case, we present what sounds like the best idea, have another meeting, and keep making revisions until everyone is happy.

VisionScape can guarantee 100% satisfaction because we don't move forward until we get a final, big thumbs-up from the happy homeowners. It's sort of like being able to test-drive every car in the lot before making a decision.

AS: Sounds like a pretty intimate process. Once the design is complete, do you stay in touch with VisionScape clients to see how their projects develop?

TF: Our relationship with our clients never ends. We make sure their construction goes as smoothly as the design process. If it’s not, we find out why and try to help. Our customers send us the most amazing pictures of ‘during’ and ‘after’ shots, which we love.

Basically, it's a relationship that only grows and matures. Never ending. We also provide ongoing support on our website through forums and landscaping databases. Our customers are as important to us when they leave as when they first walk in the door, and then some.

AS: Thanks so much for talking to me, Tiffany. After that, I might have to get my own VisionScape landscape design. Do you guys do tenth floor balconies?

TF: No space is too small for a VisionScape design! As long as you can fit a backhoe into your elevator.
